BCMG Learn & Take Part creates opportunities for young people to compose and perform new music. Have a look at our upcoming workshops and learn about our wider programme:
Creative Composing Lab (School Years 9-13)
Creative Composing Lab is an opportunity for young people aged 14-18 to compose for a trio of BCMG musicians (oboe, double bass and percussion) guided by composer David Horne. These workshops are perfect for young people working towards their GCSE and A Level music exams.

Musicadoodledo (Early Years)
Over the summer term we will be working with children from Adderley and Highfield Nurseries through our Musicadoodledo Project. The project mixes listening to professional musicians with adult-framed and child-initiated music play.

Music Maze (School Years 3-6)
Fun and informal creative music making workshop led by BCMG’s Director of Learning, Nancy Evans and BCMG musicians.
Our final workshop of the academic year is fully booked but keep an eye on our website for the next series of workshops in September 2023.
BCMG Young Composers (School Years 7-9)
BCMG Young Composers is a termly series of weekend workshops in which young people have the opportunity to compose for a duo of BCMG musicians. This term is fully booked but keep an eye on our website for the next series starting in September 2023.
Listen Imagine Compose Primary (KS2)
Listen Imagine Compose Primary is a partnership between BCMG, Sound and Music, Birmingham City University Birmingham Music Education Partnership and Bristol Beacon. The project aims to:
• Work with teachers and composers to develop meaningful and relevant composing activity for children
• Better understand children’s composing and how they progress as composers
• Improve the quality and frequency of composing in primary schools.
Findings from the project will be shared through conferences, online resources, academic articles and further CPD. More information can be found HERE.
